The Park Road, Cheltenham level crossing will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians between Hall Street and Churchill Avenue from Saturday 23 May until Monday 8 June.
There will also be road closures at:
- Balcombe Road, Mentone from Thursday 14 May to Tuesday 23 June
- Charman Road, Cheltenham from Saturday 23 May until Thursday 11 June
During the closures, we will be digging the rail trenches, completing service relocations and piling works, lowering the rail line and building new road bridges and stations at Cheltenham and Mentone.
Detours and traffic management will be in place to keep you moving safely through the area.

Vehicle detour
Due to the additional road closures at Balcombe Road and Charman Road, vehicles can cross the rail line at the Bay Road or Warrigal Road level crossings.

Pedestrian access changes
To enable level crossing removal works to take place in Cheltenham, there will be pedestrian access changes.
From 11.30pm Saturday 23 May to Monday 8 June 2020, there is no pedestrian access across the Park Road level crossing.
Pedestrians can detour via Bay Road or take a free pedestrian shuttle bus.
Please note the former temporary pedestrian detour path installed between Cheltenham Park and the rail line will be unavailable during this time, to allow trench excavation works and shared use path construction to continue safely.
Free pedestrian shuttle bus
A free pedestrian shuttle bus will service Park Road, operating between Park Road, Westfield Southland Shopping Centre and Charman Road from Sunday 24 May to Monday 8 June.
- Weekdays – 6am to 7pm
- Saturday – 7.30am to 7pm
- Sunday – 8am to 7pm
Pedestrian shuttle bus stops are located on:
- Park Road at the 822 bus stop between Wembley and Olympic avenues
- Westfield Southland Shopping Centre Bus Interchange.
- Charman Road near the corner of Hall Lane.
Bus stop closures
Bus routes 600, 811, 812, 822, 922 and 923 will not service selected bus stops from first bus Saturday 23 May to last bus Thursday 11 June, due to level crossing removal works at Park and Charman roads, Cheltenham.
